The Rapala name has been attached to bass fishing ever since one of Laurie Rapala’s first lures made it to the U.S. It all started with the original Floating Rapala and for years that’s all that was available. By the mid-70s, though, Rapala had developed a few other baits to cover a wider range of depths, but for the most part, they were all still “minnow” designs.
What caught my eye in this ad was a bait I’d never seen before – the Deep Diver. After doing a little research I found out that this lure, the DD90 came out in or around 1972 and was produced in two sizes, the 7 and 9 and were 3 -1/4 and 4-1/2 inches in length respectively.
