Elite Series angler Kevin Hawk got his start fishing with his father and brother for trout in the local San Diego lakes. By chance his father also had some friends that bass fished – they took him and he was hooked.
Hawk’s teenage years were spent fishing local waters and events until he started climbing up through the ranks fishing local team events through the western Strens. His qualification into the 2009 FLW Cup as the last angler would change his life.
He moved from southern California to Georgia near Lake Lanier to spend nearly a year preparing for the Cup. His persistence and will to lay it all on the line would result in his winning the 2010 FLW Cup.
We had a chance to talk with Hawk at ICAST 2014 about his path to become a professional angler. It’s an interesting story and one that will inspire those to chase their dreams.
